Alex Gonzaga revealed that she and her family have finally recovered from COVID-19 after contracting the disease a few weeks ago.

She spoke about their experience in a vlog post on her YouTube channel yesterday, Oct. 23.

“Maraming nagtatanong sa akin kung bakit di pa ko lumalabas sa ‘Lunch Out Loud.’ Hindi po ako nagpapakita sa show kasi nagka-COVID po ako. Thank God ako ay naka-survive,” Alex explained. “Actually the whole family.”

The actress said that they caught the disease after someone in their household, who she did not name, went out for food.

Alex’s mom, Pinty, was the first in their family to contract COVID-19. However, she, her dad Bonoy, fiancé Mikee Morada and assistant Sophie later caught the disease as well.

Her parents were both asymptomatic, but she, Mikee and Sophie all had mild symptoms. As for Alex, she experienced a loss of taste and appetite, a slight fever, sore throat, clogged nose and feeling weak.

She also assured that her sister Toni and her own family were safe and did not catch the disease.

After learning that they had COVID-19, they all quarantined apart from one another. Alex and her parents stayed in separate rooms inside their home and covered their doorways with a large sheet of plastic.

Once they finished two weeks of quarantine, they underwent swab tests to check if they had already recovered. Along with Alex and her parents, they also had all of their staff and helpers in their home undergo a swab test twice as well to ensure they did not catch the disease.

Before ending her vlog, Alex advised her viewers to be extra careful and selfless during the ongoing pandemic.

“As much as possible,” she added, “you have to really take care of your body and boost your immune system kahit nasa loob lang kayo ng bahay (even if you are just inside your home).”
