Angkas now offers alternative ride transportation to train commuters for free due to inconvenience caused by LRT-2 line partial shut down since last week, the firm announced Monday.
This firm is an on-demand motorcycle-based transport in the Philippines, even celebrities like Maine Mendoza was reported riding Angkas to beat traffic and catch a concert.
Commuters may avail the free rides during rush hours on Tuesday-Thursday, 8 a.m-10 a.m; 5 p.m-7 p.m. The route is from Santolan to Recto station and vice-versa.
LRT partially resumed its Cubao to Recto operations at 6 a.m Tuesday.
The management needed to shut down operations for 5 days after a power rectifier burst into flames along Katipunan Ave. last Thursday.
To ease the problem, there were 89 buses granted special permits to ferry LRT-2 commuters.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA)also offers free bus rides from Santolan to Cubao area. However, there are complaints that buses arrive nearly an hour interval before to get a ride.
Providing this initiative to ease the current situation of LRT commuters, the private firm Angkas received positive feedback from the public.
