Black Eyed Peas is set to perform on the closing ceremony of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games tonight, December 11, with a new addition to the band.

The American rap band said they will be singing hits in celebration of the athletes from 11 competing countries. 

“We are doing our hits and Tagalog parts in our album,” Filipino member (Allan Pineda Lindo) said during a press conference on Tuesday at the The Peninsula Manila. 

“It’s going to be a celebration for the athletes that gave their all to have a great SEA Games for the Philippines.”

Co-members (William Adams) and Taboo (Jaime Gomez) will be joining on the stage. 

“We see ourselves as citizens of the world,” said. 

“We have played in the Super Bowl in the USA and it was amazing. There are American acts that come from America and brought American culture around the world, like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince and others. We are bringing Filipino culture to the four corners of the world. Those who have never met a Filipino, who do not know Filipino culture, are educated through”

Meanwhile,, whose Filipino roots became the reason the band was chosen to perform, expressed his thanks towards his members as he knows how much they have sacrificed to be able to perform in the SEA Games closing ceremony amid their hectic schedules. 

The event was added the band’ world tour schedule, which has already taken them to countries including Brazil, Paraguay, and Australia. 

“When I heard about the SEA Games, I just wanted to do the torch run. Like how Will did it in the UK,” revealed. 

“It took me about a month to get the yes [from and Taboo]. And now I’m so excited that they’re here for this historical and momentous event. This is a celebration of our athletes for their hard work to represent our country,” he said. also performed during the opening ceremony of the biennial sporting event on November 30, where he sang one of their hit songs “Bebot.”

Black Eyed Peas welcomes new Filipina member 

On a different note, Black Eyed Peas has welcomed their newest member Jessica Reynoso, who is also a Filipina. 

Reynoso will also be performing with the band this evening at the New Clark City in Tarlac. 

The Pinay singer said it is a huge honor for her to be part of the group and to also represent the Philippines. 

“Ang saya. They’re like my big brothers,” she said.

“It just feels so good to be back home. So ngayon makakapagperform po ako sa harap ng lahat ng Pilipino.”

It could be recalled that Reynoso became a finalist of The Voice Philippines in 2013, where became her coach.
