K-pop superstar group BTS cancelled a series of scheduled concerts in Seoul in April due to concerns over a viral outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in South Korea that is soaring.

“We regret to announce that the BTS MAP OF THE SOUL … has been cancelled,” the management agency of the record-breaking boy group announced Friday.

The Big Hit Entertainment said in a statement that the band was supposed to perform at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium on April 11-12 and April 18-19.

Moreover, it said that COVID-19 outbreak “has made it impossible at this time to predict the scale of the outbreak during the dates of the concert in April.”

As of February 28, South Korea has reported a spike of new cases that already infected a total of 2,022 individuals. The outbreak is believed to have started from a cult group located Deagu.

The first person to be confirmed with a novel coronavirus case was able to attend multiple gatherings of the group before being diagnosed.

South Korea is now the country with the highest COVID-19 cases outside mainland China.
