McDonnell also worked on “WandaVision,” the Disney+ miniseries based on Scarlet Witch and Vision. The series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and anticipated for release this year.

The sequel will not be helmed by the directors of the first film, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Reportedly, Marvel is looking for a female director. Report said that Boden and Fleck could direct a Disney+ series.

The 2019 “Captain Marvel” is the MCU’s first female-led film and had a box-office success with $1.1 billion worldwide gross. The title role was performed by Academy award-winning actress Brie Larson.
