Days before she will pass the crown to her successor, Catriona Gray looked back to her journey as the Miss Universe 2018 in a detailed retrospective entitled “MARANASAN: The year. The experience. The reign.”
Posted in Gray’s official Facebook Page, Gray recounted in the eight-minute video all the moments after her coronation in Bangkok, Thailand through the conclusion of her Miss Universe reign.
“How does anyone describe the feeling of finally achieving a dream? I don’t even know how to put into words how it felt having that crown first time on my head,” she started.
“I always had a voice but now being crowned as Miss Universe would give me the global platform to amplify it.”
She showed some glimpses of her tours, media schedules, and pageant duties, and even her activities related to different causes, from education for deprived children, to providing medical assistance and spreading HIV/AIDS awareness among people.
Gray also highlighted her homecoming in the Philippines, transferring to New York City, as well as her travels to several countries.
“I want to be remembered as the queen who serves, to be seen as using this opportunity and platform to pursue my purpose as an advocate and a voice to not just 104 [million] Filipinos, but to the whole universe,” she said.
Gray is the 4th Miss Universe from the Philippines after Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margarita Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).
She will pass her crown to a new queen on December 8 in Atlanta, Georgia (December 9, 8 a.m. Manila time).
Meanwhile, the Philippines’ Miss Universe 2019 representative Gazini Ganados is now ready to conquer the stage as she hopes to get a back-to-back win for the country.
