House Speaker and PHISGOC chair Alan Peter Cayetano said he is ready for investigation, warning people behind ‘smear campaign’ against him and the staging of the 30th SEA Games to also be ready because he will unmask them.

“Basta’t handa ako sa imbestigasyon after the SEA Games, humanda rin kayo sa imbestigasyon kasi i-unmask ko rin kayo,” Cayetano said in an interview in San Juan City.

He also vowed to reveal those who plan to divide the country.

“I will also unmask those people who shameless[ly] o mga walang hiya na gusto talagang sirain ang ating bansa,” he added.

According to him, the opposition members are trying to pin the blame on them and President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration about the hosting of the event.

SEA Games fake news

Cayetano also mentioned that he got a notice that there was an “operation” that intends to peddle “fake news” with regard to the country’s SEA Games staging.

“We have our own analytics and our own metrics system, and that’s available to you, it was only four or five websites na nagtapon ng mga fake news, paulit-ulit. So ano tawag mo doon?” Cayetano said.

Other than that, the House Speaker also shared that there were efforts to bribe some media outlets to make sure that these fallacious information are published.

“Even ilan sa mga media, umamin na sa amin na may umaagos na pera para siraan ang SEA Games. I don’t know [how much] because these were just told to me by close friends and they told me, buti na lang walang tumatanggap kasi for the country ito,” he added.

Once supported by PHISGOC, Cayetano said he will file libel and cyber libel charges against those spreading fake news to sabotage them and the SEA Games.

Earlier, it was reported that Duterte was not pleased of what he’s been hearing about the hosting of the event, thus wanted to investigate the allegations of inefficiency and corruption  involved in it.
