President Rodrigo Duterte claims that he, along with Senator Bong Go, and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano are currently the “brightest stars” in the Philippine politics.

He stated this during his visit in Taguig City City Center for the Elderly, where both Go and Cayetano were also present.

“Si Senator Bong, Speaker, we are the brightest stars today. Magtingin ka sa political na langit at makikita mo kami shining,” Duterte said.

However, he said that this could change after his term.

“But I know that in about two years’ time, that light would dim and I would be nothing.”

“Ganun ang buhay. There is a time for everything in this world,” the President added.

Duterte rocketed in the national politics after he won the presidential race in May 2016 with his promise of massive “change” he would do for the Filipinos

His presidential campaign then was to curb criminality and corruption in just three to six months of his term, but these certain issues are still prevailing until now.

Although many are opposed to War on Drugs campaign of the President, a SWS survey still showed that 8 out of 10 Filipinos agreed with his ways.

Go, however, was Duterte’s aide for over two decades, and now a neophyte in the Senate.

Meanwhile, Cayetano was Duterte’s foreign secretary, and currently acts as the House Speaker since July, under a controversial power-sharing agreement with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco

Moreover, Duterte believed that his position is “a gift from God,” even after he previously stated his doubts about God’s existence.

“The more you covet for it, mas hindi ibigay ng Diyos. Hayaan mo lang. Kung ano lang ibigay. At what are your expectations? None. I leave it to God. He’s everything,” he said, adding that it was his mother who taught him how to read the Bible.
