For gamers out there, there is a possibility that Bachelor of Science in Electronic Sports (E-sports) course be soon available in college!
E-sports firm Tier One Entertainment collaborated on a draft program for the Bachelor of Science degree in E-sports with Lyceum of the Philippines University.
This March, the program draft will be passed to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Cosplayer and gaming star Alodia Gosiengfiao is the co-founder of Tier One Entertainment, together with the e-sports veteran Tryke Gutierrez.
“We are weeks away from reaching one of the biggest milestones in Philippine esports history,” Gutierrez said in a Facebook post.
“In the recent years, multiple universities around the world have opened their institutions to esports courses and as one of the biggest esports markets in Asia, this is Philippines’ turn to take that leap,” he added.
If the program gets the approval, the full e-sports course might accept enrollees this 2020.
“The goal has always been to create more opportunities for gamers in Asia,” Gutierrez said in another post.
“If this curriculum gets approved, we won’t just be providing post career opportunities for gaming but we will have a new generation of graduates ready to work in the esports industry,” he added.
