Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber confirmed Wednesday that he had been fighting against Lyme disease and a severe case of mononucleosis, but now already overcoming health problems.
On Instagram, Bieber noted that his appearance had been criticized recently by some people and suggested that he uses drugs.
“They failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my skin, brain function, energy and overall health,” Bieber wrote.
“It’s been a rough couple of years but getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease,” he added. “And I will be back and better than ever.”
At the age of 25, an upcoming 10-episode documentary series about Bieber’s life will cover topics that include his health challenges, which will be released on YouTube starting January 27.
Justin Bieber has written a series of Instagram posts to his 124 million followers over the past year, talking about his battle to recover over depression, drug abuse, fame, crediting religion, and wife Hailey Baldwin.
Bieber is planning to release his first album in several years this 2020 and to embark on a North American tour. He released a single last week called “Yummy.”
