Kapamilya leading lady Maja Salvador recently won the Best Actress award at the 1st Asia Contents Awards by the Busan International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea last October 6.
The star flew to Korea to have the honor of being nominated as Best Actress, for showcasing her acting prowess in Wildflower as Ivy Aguas and Lily Cruz.
The same TV series was also nominated as Best Asian TV Drama, but Thailand’ Hormones and Singapore’s Faculty got the prize.
Maja Salvador was escorted by her boyfriend Rambo Nuñez, and was with the “Wildflower” director and ABS-CBN Production Manager Maru Benitez.
“I’m shaking, good evening everyone,” Maja’s start of her speech.
“It was an honor to be trusted with this role by our network, ABS-CBN, and the whole team of Wildflower,” she gratefully added.
The actress also thanked her co-actor Mr. Tirso Cruz III, who played the main villain in “Wildflower”, for encouraging her.
“I share this recognition to all of my brilliant colleagues in the show, most especially to the veteran genius Mr Tirso Cruz III, who up my game and encouraged me when I thought I have nothing more to give.”
She also mentioned her boyfriend, ending her speech with, “Thank you for this great honor for the Philippines. My love, I love you.”
This is Maja’s first international award, but she has previously accepted several local awards: Gawad Urian Award for Best Actress in 2012 as Thelma in Thelma, PMPC Star Awards for TV Best Drama Actress in 2015 as Mia Sandoval in Bridges of Love, and PMPC Star Awards for TV Queens at the Turn of the Millennium in 2015.
The Asia Contents Awards recognize outstanding TV series and actors across Asia. It is organized by the Asian Film Market, which also handles Busan International Film Festival.
