PAGASA eyes a new typhoon gaining strength over the Pacific Ocean to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in between Wednesday and Thursday.
It will be the first tropical cyclone in October and the 16th to enter the country’s jurisdiction in 2019.
The typhoon with an international name Hagibis was monitored packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gusts of up to 150 kph at 4 a.m on Monday as it moves its way west-northwest.
Once entered PAR, the state bureau will name it “Perla”. However, it may not landfall on any part of the Philippines as it could skirt the boundary of the area.
Concurrently, the eastern part of the country will experience the ‘easterlies’—the wind blowing from the east—will be the dominant weather system today.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to thunderstorms.
