One-way traffic scheme being implemented in SLEX

One-way traffic scheme in South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to give way for the expansion of Skyway drew a lot of flak, but the project manager assured it will end by December.

According to the president of Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), Manuel Bonoan, the implementation of one-way traffic was intended to allot more space in SLEX’s East Service Road for the speedy extension of Metro Manila’s elevated highway.

“The purpose of that is magkaroon kami ng kaunting space pa para mabilisan namin iyong ginagawa namin d’yan sa portion ng Skyway, para matapos namin ito lahat by end of November, wala na tayong sagabal sa December,” Bonoan said in an interview with DZMM.

They are currently working on a 4-kilometer Skyway extension, which will help motorists from being obliged to pass by through the ceaseless traffic chokepoint in Alabang viaduct.

Meanwhile, Bonoan believes that people have already got used to the SLEX traffic that’s why they adjusted their schedule of travel. For now, they are monitoring the service to allow smoother flow.

“Inside the expressway, I think manageable na doon sa pagdaloy ng traffic,” he added.

Also, to further ease traffic in SLEX, authorities will begin limiting trucks entering northbound during specified time in the expressway on October 14.

Bonoan, on the other hand, appreciates the local officials of Muntinlupa who participate and give inputs with regards to traffic schemes.
