Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo’s ex-boyfriend Neil Salvacion has tried his luck to be one of the housemates for the upcoming season of “Pinoy Big Brother.”
Salvacion talked about his desire to join the reality TV show through a video on his Kumu page on Sept. 7. He appeared to be in a hospital, wearing scrubs while he narrated his life as a nurse amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He explained that he wanted to work abroad, but instead stayed in the Philippines to serve in COVID-19 wards. For him, the opportunity to be a housemate would allow him to share stories about frontline workers.
Salvacion also talked about the heartbreaks he experienced from two types of “corona.”
“Nakakalungkot man na ma-isolate ng ilang buwan, mas nakakalungkot pala na maiwan ka ng taong minamahal mo dahil sa pangarap nitong korona,” he said, seemingly alluding to Mateo competing in the Miss Universe pageant last May.
“Coronavirus at korona sa patimpalak ay ilan lamang sa mga hamon sa aking buhay,” Salvacion added. “It’s about time for me to share my story. Bagong bahay, bagong buhay, bagong mga hamon sa buhay.”
(Coronavirus and a crown in the competition are just some of the challenges in my life. It’s about time for me to share my story. New house, new life, new challenges in life.)
Salvacion confirmed his breakup with Mateo last June. At the time, he stressed that he and the beauty queen were “both okay” and “moving forward.”
Mateo was in a relationship with Salvacion for over six years, as they began dating in college. Salvacion is also Mateo’s first boyfriend.
