The ongoing dialogue between the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Alliance of Concerned Teachers assures that public school teachers would get a salary increase starting January 2020, as posted on the Facebook page of Manila Public School Teachers Association – MPSTA ACT NCR UNION.
“Nakapagpasa na ng salary schedule ang DBM sa kongreso at senado na ang laman ay ang P31B pa rin, hindi pa ito na-adjust sa Senate-approved budget for salary na P63B. Ngunit sinigurado nila na mayroong salary increase sa darating na Enero 2020,” said in the post.
[Translation: DBM has already passed the salary schedule to the Congress and the Senate that includes the P31B budget. It has not yet been adjusted to the Senate-approved budget for salary amounting to P63B, but they assured that there is a salary increase this coming January 2020.]
The allotted P63B budget for pay hike of teachers would cover an increase of less than P3,000 per month to more than 1.5 million employees, according to the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT).
The Senate approved the 2020 budget on its final reading. It includes funds for pay hike of state workers, including nurses and teachers.
According to the teacher group, increasing the budget is a good indication for the P30,000 salary demand of teachers.
